FORGIVABLE LOAN OPTIONS FOR FREELANCERS // COVID-19

Hey C3Pros!

So here we are. It’s 2020 and if you’re anything like me, you may be wondering when, or even if, you will get another job in the next few months.

To make matters worse, news about financial relief seems to change almost as much as I wash my hands, which we all know, right now, is A LOT. As an artist, who wants to be thinking about finance when you already are feeling out of the game.

This is my way of trying to help your process.

I’m not a financial advisor, but I grew up in a family of CPAs, with a lot of financial advisors amongst them, and these are the recommendations they came up with.

Here are two great options for your next steps -

1) THE DISASTER LOAN APPLICATION (<— click link to access) - RIGHT NOW! (and in only like 5 minutes) - you can apply for a $10,000 relief loan (more like grant) through the U.S. Small Business Administration. This loan is 100% forgivable and meant to be an immediate response to the epidemic for small businesses/sole proprietors/homeowners trying to stay afloat. Don’t believe it? This is the overview provided directly on their site.

2) PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM (<— click link to access) - STARTING APRIL 10TH, you will be able to apply for a small business loan (yes, YOU, sole proprietors) through your bank! These loans are forgivable if you can prove that you used them in the recommended fashion.

We all need a little help navigating these tricky waters as freelancers/sole proprietors/small business owners. Take this with a grain of salt as news is always changing. But hopefully, at least now, it can give you a sense of direction.

Feel free to share with others who may benefit from the information as well! And please, if you have any additional info you think would be beneficial to include in this post, feel free to comment it below and I’ll make sure to add it!

Blessings,

Luke

P.S. Shameless plug, my family’s farm is selling shirts to raise money for my local food bank here in our farm town. Feel free to check out all our farm merch by heading over to The Farmer’s Field.
